NEET UG 2024 New website, revised application fee to tie-breaking policy — list of changes introduced this year
NEET UG 2024 From change in exam pattern to website, know what all noteworthy modifications have been done by the NTA and NMC,
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the application process for the NEET UG and here are some noteworthy modifications that the candidates should know.
1. Updated official website: Candidates can now access all pertinent exam information at neet.ntaonline.in, the official website for NEET information.
2. Revised application fees: A revision has made to the application fee structure. The general category registration cost has raised to Rs 1,700. Previously, candidates who weren’t from India had to pay Rs 9,500. The new cost is Rs 1,600 for applicants in the EWS/OBC-NCL categories and Rs 1,000 for those in the SC/ST/PwD categories.
3. Revision of tie-breaking policy: The rule about tying has been updated. When deciding who gets the highest grade among candidates, the age and NEET UG application number are no longer taken into account. Priority awarded according to scores got in biology, chemistry, and physics, in that order. If necessary, the ratio of right to wrong answers is then considered both between disciplines and within specific courses.
4. Reduction and addition of topics to the syllabus: The National Medical Commission (NMC) and the NTA have updated the NEET syllabus, eliminating some subjects and including others that are essential to the test.
5. Exam length and variations in the pattern: The NEET exam will now last 200 minutes (3 hours and 20 minutes), with testing taking place from 2 pm to 5:20 pm IST. Exam patterns now allow candidates to select to respond to questions in one of two sections for each subject. Candidates can attempt any ten of the fifteen questions in Section B. There are thirty-five questions in Section A.
