Foreign Medical Graduate Examination

Candidates applying for the FMGE 2023 should be an Indian or an overseas Indian citizen and possess a medical qualification from a recognised institution.

National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has started the registration process for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) December 2023 on the official website, natboard.edu.in.

Candidates applying for the FMGE December 2023 should be a citizen of India or an overseas citizen of India. The applicants should possess a primary medical qualification from a recognised institution, which must be confirmed by the concerned Indian embassy of that country.

They will have to submit the requisite documents as evidence to prove that they have qualified for the final examination of primary medical examination on or before the specified date. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has also provided guidelines for students who have completed MBBS from Ukraine and Philippines.

FMGE Guidelines for MBBS graduates from Ukraine

Candidates should have completed a medical course in a medical institute in Ukraine (course equivalent to MBBS Course in India) as offline mode with or without one year of internship and have returned to India. They required to obtain provisional registration from the concerned state medical council and thereafter undergo one year compulsory rotating medical internship as per the CRMI Regulation, 2021. Such students will be eligible to receive stipend in parity with Indian Medical Graduates.

Candidates who had a break in their final year and returned to India owing to COVID-19 pandemic or Russia-Ukraine War and completed FMG course, including examination, in online mode are also eligible. They will have to undergo a one-year clinical clerkship (CC) in India in lieu of deficiency in their training from their parent medical college. The Indian Medical College may charge clerkship fee from such candidates maximum up to Rs 5,000 per month.

After successful completion of 1 year clinical clerkship and supported by log book followed by authentication from concerned college authority, they will allowed to begin CRMI which may done in medical college or any recognised institute. Such students at the stage of CRMI, shall be eligible to receive stipend equivalent to the stipend received by IMGs of that college and institution.

Allotment of such students to clinical clerkship or Internship programme will done through concerned DME and SMC, in consultation with each other.

Existing FMGs undergoing internship allowed to continue to complete their two years before permanent registration given by the State Medical Council

FMGs who have a break in the penultimate year of study owing to COVID-19 pandemic or war and completed FMG course, including examination, in online mode only will have to undergo two-years of clinical clerkship supported by logbook, further authenticated by concerned college authority.

After successful completion of two-year clinical clerkship and supported by log book followed by authentication from concerned college authority, they will allowed to begin CRMI which maybe done in medical college or any recognized institute.

Guidelines for MBBS Graduates from Philippines

As per the FMGL Regulation, 2021, the NMC derecognises BS course in the Philippines. Hence students who were studying a BS course or had taken admission in a BS course at the time of publication of FMGL Regulation are not allowed.

However, students who have taken admission in MD course on or before November 18, 2021, are eligible to complete the course and subsequently write FMG Examination in India. After qualifying FMGE, these FMGs required to undergo one year of internship in order to compensate for the deficiency in their training from parent foreign medical colleges followed by CRMI after obtaining provisional registration.
