About Universiti Teknologi Mara Faculty of Medicine

The faculty admitted its first batch of 20 medical students in June 2003, and they graduated in April 2008. Over the years, student intake has increased significantly, and by 2011, the number of annual admissions had grown to approximately 250 students. Initially, the Faculty of Medicine’s administrative office was temporarily housed on the 20th floor of Tower 1 in the Science and Technology Building at the Shah Alam campus, which serves as the main Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) campus. Shah Alam is a well-established institution, offering robust infrastructure, convenient road access, and public transportation. During this time, the faculty also expanded by securing additional floors within the Engineering Complex, which housed a dissection hall, an anatomy resource centre, and multidisciplinary laboratories.

Later, the faculty acquired several acres of land near Hospital Sungai Buloh to construct its main campus. The Sungai Buloh campus was completed in 2012, and the administrative and academic staff relocated from Shah Alam to the new campus. Since then, both pre-clinical and clinical teaching has taken place at the Sungai Buloh campus. Alongside its teaching facilities, the faculty also developed its clinical services. Initially, the Specialist Clinic at the Selayang Campus was open to the public. Later, the Clinical Training Centre (CTC) in Sungai Buloh began offering clinical and inpatient services to the community. In 2016, the centre was formalized into the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Medical Specialist Centre (PPUiTM), providing specialized services in cardiology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, general surgery, orthopaedics, rehabilitation medicine, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, dermatology, and primary care.

Today, UiTM’s teaching hospital, the Hospital Al-Sultan Abdullah Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) , is fully operational in Puncak Alam, Selangor.
