Facilities / Infrastructure in Santiniketan Medical College, Bolpur, West Bengal

Central Library

The Central Library located in the 3rd floor of the institution. It has a floor area of 1325 Sq.mts. Floor are internet connected. The library is well illuminated and Air- conditioned. It provides a good ambience and free from noise. The library Circulation counter cum Reception area is at the entrance of the library. Electronic devices used in this counter for handling books taken from the library or received. The library has Text and Reference Books as well as journals.

All the Library facilities and services supported by qualified and efficient staff members who provide information services to the users. The library provides Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) facility for easy search for the faculty and students. An OPAC has been created and 5 terminals provided for easy access. It is also made available to the end users with in campus. All library operational services have automated using windows-based technology.

Skills Lab
This is a unique facility to train the students using simulation technology. They get hands on opportunity to perform clinical procedures on models, manikins, tissues and simulators. The purpose of the skills lab is to provide a safe environment for students to learn, practice and be observed performing skills in a simulated environment thus mitigating the risks involved in direct patient exposure without adequate preparation and supervision.

Hi-Tech Laboratories
To understand the complexities of and to keep pace with the advances in medical science, experiments and case studies need to be conducted in well-equipped laboratories. The College has an array of modern laboratories with state-of the art equipment. Trained staff provide assistance and guidance to the students.

World Class Museums
The College has unique museums where medical facts and oddities of the human body are on display. A collection of over 300 dissected specimens and 500 models are carefully preserved. The human foetus from a month old till its mature stage and other fascinating rarities such as huge tumours removed from the body are exhibited, making it veritable bank of a visual reference. The Anatomy Museum is one of the best in India.

Considering the urgent need of the students, staff and guardians, the institution, inside the campus, has spared two spacious rooms including the kitchen, for smooth running of a canteen which is open in all working days
