Facilities / Infrastructure in Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi

Central Library

Present over a vast area of 2400 sq. mts., the Central Library is accommodated in the 3rd & 4th Floor of the Oncology Block, boasting a wide collection of over 86000 books, 981 Indian Journals, 2166 Foreign Journals and around 2000 research papers. With Dr. Poonam Singh, Professor & HOD, Physiology as the in-charge of the library, the smooth functioning and working is maintained by Librarian, 3 Library Attendants and 1 housekeeping staff.

Hostel
The hostels UG I and UG IV were the first ones to be constructed in the year 1960 and further planning led to the construction of the other four hostels. The rooms are well equipped. Each student is entitled to a separate bed, a rack, a table and a chair. There is proper sanitation with an adequate number of bathrooms provided in respective lobbies of each hostel. The cleanliness and maintenance is well taken care by the hostel staff. There are 4 messes available in the Ladies Hostel which are run by private caterers. Tasty and healthy food is served in the mess and strict hygienic conditions are observed while cooking and dining.

Rajendra Medical College & Hospital

Rajendra Medical College Hospital after Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. The Medical College Hospital came into existence in February 1965.Dr N.L. Mitra was the first principal of the college. Dr. K.P. Shrivastava was the first director of the Institute after it was renamed. Currently RIMS is in news for its up gradation. The Institute provides free medical service to the patients along with essential drugs.

The college is 1500 bedded Multi-Speciality Hospital with Advanced Diagnostic Tools. There is Oncology centre with the latest Radiation Machinery, a 100 seated Dental College. The college also has a 14 bedded Trauma centre, the first of its kind in Eastern India. The Neurosurgery Department offers M.Ch. (Master chirurgiae or Master of Surgery) degree. About 15% of the total seat is filled through Central Quota & rest through (JCECE Board) Examination. Under PMSSY scheme, a 240 bedded Super Specialty Hospital Oncology, Cardiology, Urology and Paediatric Surgery Related Diseases will be dealt with all modern facilities.

Eligibility & Admission Process for Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi

Eligibility MBBS

– Pass with minimum 50 % marks in Intermediate (Bi.P.C)

– Must Qualify in NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test)

Admission Process

Admission to the MBBS programme is based on candidates’ performance in NEET. Once the NEET results are declared, then the eligible candidates are called for counselling process.
