About NRI Institute of Medical Sciences, Visakhapatnam

NRIIMS started in the year 2012 with the intent to educate and groom qualified doctors who can contribute to the society. The institution is under the affiliation of Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences. Spread across 10.75 lakh sq.ft the campus includes the college, hospital, staff quarters and hostels.The campus equipped with a State of the art library with 15,000 books, E library and an Evaluation centre.

The Medical College have sanctioned with 150 seats of MBBS and 66 seats of PG courses. The existing infrastructure can serve up to 200 MBBS seats. It attached to Anil Neerukonda Hospital that has 980 beds, 200+doctors,advanced labs and Diagnostic centres including MRI and CT Scan.

Campus Buildings: A 21 acres of land is ear marked for housing the Medical College to provide amenities as per the norms of NMC such as Medical College with pre & para clinical departments, Administrative Office, Central Library, Examination Hall, Lecture Halls, Skills Lab, Laboratories, Demonstration Rooms, faculty rooms etc. Separate buildings of staff quarters, Hostels for students, Nursing and Interns. Central workshops etc. also provided.

NRIIMS Library: An air-conditioned Central Library is available in the College building with 14,000+ books and 105 Journals (Indian & Foreign). Digital library is available with 40 nodes, 24hrs Reading Room and Library reading room to accommodate 300 UG students and also 50 PG students. The library is fully equipped with modern capabilities such as internet and web resources, including online journals and e-books, in addition to pleasant seating and reading environments. The library has its own audio-visual room, computer lab, group study area, and private study area.

Labs: State of art laboratories for students’ practical’s and also service labs as per the specifications of NMC provided in each of the department / speciality. Hostel: NRIIMS has a hostel section under the management of Hostel Management. The Hostels managed by the Chief Wardens, assisted by Wardens and other Hostel Staff. There are separate hostels for Boys and Girls. Additionally, there are hostel staff comprising of Caretakers / Block Supervisors, Attendants and Housekeeping personnel.

Play Ground: Play fields arranged for the students with Basketball, Volley ball, Indoor shuttle badminton stadium, Indoor Table tennis, Cricket, Caroms & Chess. Gym also provided separately for Boys and Girls and also to the staff of the Institution.

Sports: Our students have participated in various sports events of Dr. NTR UHS conducted at GSL Medical College, Rajahmundry, RMC-Kakinada, GITAM-Visakhapatnam in the events of Cricket, Volley ball, Basket Ball, Kabadi and Shuttle Badminton. Our students represented the University to participate at Inter University Tournaments.

Jagananna Vidya Deevena

Eligibility:

Any student whose annual family income is less than Rs. 2.5 lakh are eligible under Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme.

There is no income limit for students hailing from families of sanitation works and those who are professionally dependent on taxi, auto, and tractor. However, the income taxpayers will not be eligible.

Jagananna Vasathi Deevena Scheme

Candidate should have passed intermediate (10+2) or its equvailent examination i.e. qualifying examination, securing not less than 50% of marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botony, Zoology)/Biochemistry, 40% marks in case of BC/SC/ST are eligible to admission into MBBS course and they have to fulfill other relevant conditions laid down by NMC.

Course Duration: 4years 6months as per academic calendar by 1 year Compulsory Rotary Internship.

Seats Distribution: The number and distribution of seats may vary depending upon the periodic directives / decisions from competent authorities

Admission Process

Admission to the MBBS programme is based on candidates’ performance in NEET. Once the NEET results are declared, then the eligible candidates are called for counselling process.
