About Mahatma Gandhi Missions Medical College, Navi Mumbai

The Mahatma Gandhi Mission Trust is the parent body of MGMIHS which was established in 1982 by Hon. Shri Kamal Kishore Kadam with a futuristic vision to provide qualitative education by applying innovative and dynamic pedagogical techniques. Since inception, the Trust has focused on providing Health Care Services, School Education and Higher Education with dedication and commitment. The MGM Trust was established in Nanded, Maharashtra and in the course of time it extended its services to Aurangabad, Navi Mumbai and Parbhani in Maharashtra and Noida [New Delhi] in Uttar Pradesh.

A chain of Schools, Engineering, Architecture, Medical, Nursing, Management, Computer Science & IT, Bioinformatics and Biotechnology, Fine Arts and Journalism stand testimony to the endeavours of the Trust.

All these Institutions are run under the able guidance of Shri Kamal Kishore Kadam, M.Tech. (IIT-Mumbai), Chairman of the Trust and Ex-Minister of Education, Maharashtra and the trustees Shri Ankush Rao N. Kadam (B.E.), Dr. P.M. Jadhav (FRCS, U.K.), Dr. S.N. Kadam (FRCP, Edin.), Dr. Nitin N. Kadam (MD, DCH) and Shri U.N. Kadam (B.E). The Institutions under MGM Trust have achieved a mark of excellence in their respective areas over the years.

The MGM Deemed University has been notified as a Deemed to be University i.e. “MGM Institute of Health Sciences” vide Notification No. F.9-21/2005-U.3 (A) dated 30.08.2006 issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, New Delhi.

Two of its Medical Colleges at Aurangabad and Navi Mumbai were accorded the status of Deemed to be University and Mahatma Gandhi Mission Institute of Health Sciences (MGMIHS) started officially functioning in 2006.

MGM Institute of Health Sciences aims to be a top-ranking centre of Excellence in Health Science Education, Health Care and Health Research.

Facilities/Infrastructure

Classrooms

The classrooms are well ventilated and furnished and equipped with celling mounted fixed overhead LCD projectors and voice reinforcement facility with chalk boards, white screen and well-spaced seating arrangements. Larger classrooms are AC equipped to enable interactive teaching learning. We have departmental libraries and a common conference/seminar room for presentations.

Transport

The University has its own fleet of buses plying in all the areas of Navi Mumbai and Panvel for faculty, students and staff. The College has adequate buses which are made available to the students and the faculty members for commuting from various points in the city. All students should make use of the college transport or should stay in the hostel. This facility has made it possible to start the classes in time and thereby helping the academic process. Our bus facilities have enabled us to maintain discipline among students.

Hostel

MGM Medical College, Navi Mumbai has separate hostels for boys and girls each with all modern facilities, for boarding and other recreational activities. The hostels have their own mess to provide good and hygienic food to the students. Hostel accommodation will be provided on a first come first served basis.

Library

The MGM Central Medical Library is located in the 2nd floor of MGM Medical College building with the carpet area of 16000 sq. feet.

• library has been 22600 documents which include 20087 books, 2513 Reference books, 9428 bound volume of journals & 720 copies of thesis.
• The library has subscribed 126 (International:50, National:76) scholarly periodical titles It has a separate room popularly known Journal Section, for organizing the periodical collection systematically.
• E-library with 50 nodes of computers with internet for the explore the word of knowledge.

Canteen

The Management of the Canteen is directly under the control of College Administration. The Contractor of the Canteen is selected according to the available and suitable quotations. A well experienced person in food services management, his team is managing, the canteen of MGM IHS. Students and staff of the College are benefited by the College canteen. The students who come from faraway places, start their journey to the College early in the morning. For them mid-day meal is provided. Even many day-scholars use canteen facility for their breakfast and evening tea with snacks. Presently there are 130 students in the two hostels of the College. They are provided with three meals a day, bed coffee and evening tea/coffee.

Eligibility & Admission Process for Mahatma Gandhi Missions Medical College, Navi Mumbai

Eligibility MBBS

– Pass with minimum 50 % marks in Intermediate (Bi.P.C)

– Must Qualify in NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test)

Admission Process

Admission to the MBBS programme is based on candidates’ performance in NEET. Once the NEET results are declared, then the eligible candidates are called for counselling process.
