About Kasturba Medical College, Manipal

Manipal, popularly known as an international university town, began with the establishment of Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, in 1953. It was the first self-financing medical college in the private sector in India, established in a barren hillock that has turned itself to be a green environmental town, with all modern amenities conducive to student learning. Today, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, is a name synonymous with quality medical education that attracts people from India and other countries of the world. Facilities / Infrastructure in Kasturba Medical College, Manipal

Hostels

Manipal Academy of Higher Education has a separate hostel section under the management of Hostel Management Committee. This committee headed by its chairperson. The Hostels managed by the Chief Wardens, assisted by Wardens and other Hostel Staff.

Each hostel secured with Access Control Doors, accessible only to residents. CCTV mounted at the entrance of all hostels. Each hostel equipped with round the clock Wi Fi, Solar Hot water, back up electricity and normal running water. Other amenities comprise of large screen LED TV, Reading Room, three way filtered water for drinking water, Night Canteens etc. Laundry services provided by private vendors, who collect and deliver clothes in the hostels. Seasonal fruits are available in vegetable shops within the campus.

Libraries

Manipal Academy of Higher Education has an excellent Health Sciences Library, perhaps the best among all Health Sciences Libraries in India. It can accommodate 1300 students at a time. Besides the comfortable seating and reading environment, the library is well equipped with modern facilities such as internet and web resources, including online journals and e-books.

Sports and Fitness

The outdoor sports facilities include two cricket grounds, a football ground, Hockey Ground, Basketball court, two volleyball courts. There is a large open space for track and field that enables student-athletes to make full use of it to excel in field and track events. There is a sporting avenue for every student, irrespective of whether a student wishes to enhance his/her sports skills or take it as a stress buster to seek joy or fitness. Indoor facilities include Marena, a centrally-cooled sports complex. It is one of the largest and best-equipped sports centers in the country, aimed at ensuring that the six long months of monsoon in the region do not disrupt the fitness regimen of students and staff.

Kasturba Hospital, Manipal

Dr TMA Pai established the Kasturba Medical College at Manipal on 30 June 1953. Once the college came into existence, there was a need for a teaching hospital that could provide clinical facilities to students. In 1960, that long-felt need was fulfilled when the Medical Relief Society of South Kanara joined hands with the college in setting up a hospital in Manipal. Kasturba Hospital started in May 1961, with 150 beds. Today, Kasturba Hospital has 2032 beds.

The hospital is fully equipped with state-of-art diagnostic and therapeutic departments to facilitate the treatment of a wide range of medical and surgical diseases. It is well equipped for advanced and sophisticated surgeries such as coronary bypass, open-heart surgery, and kidney transplantation. The 280-bed cancer research hospital is located adjacent to the main hospital.

The hospital caters to a large number of people from Karnataka, Kerala, Goa, etc. In addition to providing health care in the normal course, the hospital also provides special health care schemes like Medicare and the Manipal Health Plan. Kasturba Hospital has been providing yeoman service to the people for nearly six decades in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. NABH accredits it.

Eligibility & Admission Process for Kasturba Medical College, Manipal

Eligibility MBBS

– Pass with minimum 50 % marks in Intermediate (Bi.P.C)

– Must Qualify in NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test)

Admission Process
