About Government Medical College & Hospital, Balangir
The College was started by the Government of Odisha in collaboration with the Government of India with an aim to improve the doctor population ratio by utilizing the District Head Quarter Hospital as the teaching hospital. The College campus spreads over a sprawling area of 21.02 Acres at the base of the Gandhamardhana Hills. The teaching hospital spreads over an area of 12 Acres and is situated in the main town of Balangir roughly 5 Kms away from the College campus.

Vision & Mission
- To teach and train undergraduate medical students to produce Indian Medical Graduates so that the doctor population ratio will be improved to cater quality Health Care to the peoples of the State of Odisha and the country at large.
- To broaden the scope of healthcare services to tertiary level for both tribal, rural and urban population of Western Odisha and the neighbouring states with a humane touch.
- To implement state and national level health programs in an efficient way by imparting necessary training and monitoring the activities for effective implementation so that healthcare for all can be provided.

Central Library
Library plays a pivotal role in every educational institution. Library is not an organization by itself but an organism. To carry out the academic pursuits Library is vital. The Central Library of Bhima Bhoi Medical College & Hospital, Balangir started with the strong determination of Prof. Dr. Lalit Kumar Meher, the first Dean & Principal and Prof. Dr. Manasee Panda, HOD Community Medicine, the first Officer-in-charge. The library began with only 177 numbers of books and 10 journals donated by the Dean himself and the faculties. Upon receiving the grants from the Government of Odisha, Health & FW Department, Books have been procured and journals [both national & international] are subscribed.

Computerized Registration Counter is available with separate counters for male and female patients for single window registration.
Casualty and trauma care services:
A 10 bedded fully equipped and fully functional casualty is available. Daily average casualty attendances – 269.
Diagnostic services:
Department of Radiodiagnosis: Facilities available – USG, Digital X-Ray. CT Scan is available in the PPP mode.
Central Laboratory: Provides routine Hematology, Clinical Pathology, Cytology, routine Biochemistry, Microbiology & Serology diagnostic services.

Eligibility & Admission Process for Government Medical College & Hospital, Balangir

– Pass with minimum 50 % marks in Intermediate (Bi.P.C)
