About Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences, Bilaspur

Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) established as an, undergraduate institution for M.B.B.S. degree course in October 10th, 2001 with intake of 180 medical students annually under Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur C.G. funded by State Govt. of Chhattisgarh. CIMS run by State Govt under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

The old govt. district hospital (Dharam Hospital-350 bedded), Bilaspur C.G. converted in to the CIMS’s hospital with 300 beds and all staffs of district hospital merged.Last MCI inspection for recognition of M.B.B.S.

degree done on 18th & 19th July 2006 and the final M.B.B.S (Part II) examination appreciated and as per MCI norms as mentioned in the inspection report. But due to shortage of faculty and other minimal deficiencies compliance asked for.

Compliance verification inspection done on 8th & 9th Feb. 2007. and 31.05.2007. Recognition for M.B.B.S degree given by govt. of India; Ministry of Health & FW vide its letter no U.12012/72/2000-ME (P-II) dated 23rd July 2007. and affiliated to AYUSH and Health Sciences University of Chhattisgarh, Raipur CG.

Classroom

The college has allotted with 100 seats for MBBS Two well-furnished spacious classrooms have allotted to them where the students sit in two sections.
We have so many class rooms with enough air ventilation and all the necessary facilities like Board with green glass, chair, table, wooden student bench, LED tube light, fan, slogan boards, etc.3 Lecture Theatre available in college building & 01 Lecture Theatre available in hospital building.

Lecture Hall

Lecture hall is separate for every department of CIMS. The Lecture Hall as per the requirements of the Medical Council of India (MCI). The Lectures taken with a special care that the students are made to understand the concepts and a very special attention to the students who are unable to cope up with the subject. The Lecture Hall equipped with the teaching aids recommended by the Medical Council, with all modern the modern amenities like OHP, LED/LCD projector and other aids as an when required. There is also an approach for integrated teaching for the students.

Seminar Hall

The seminar hall, a subsection of the library, equipped with the latest teaching aids, for the purpose of the staff & students’ workshop and seminar, required for the upgradation of the knowledge of the staff.

Demonstration Hall

There are demonstration halls for various demonstration purposes. These halls are according to the norms of the Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi. We at CIMS, again understand the need of proper teaching and training in the subject and therefore the students paid individual attention for the purpose of learning the subject. We especially feel the need of a student to remove the inhibition while conversation, which in turn helps them to face the viva-voce, confidently.

Dissection Hall

The facility of the dissection hall is as per the norms of the Medical Council of India (MCI). The hall has a good ventilation and seating arrangement for a minimum of a hundred students. We provide the students with cadavers for the dissection and study of the gross aspects. There are charts displayed for the ready reference during the time of dissection.

Central Library

The library at the CIMS provides a good number of latest books and journal for reference for the students. The students refer the books and enlighten themselves with the knowledge, provided by the books and reference material. Every student is definitely made to visit the library section for the purpose of proper learning of the subject.

Hostel

The CIMS College provides “on-campus” separate hostel facility for Boys and Girls. These hostels are aesthetically designed, complete with Mess and Recreational facilities.
Hostel facilities are available in the CIMS college campus. The Institute runs a hostel each for the boys and girls’ students. Two hostels including PG Hostels are available & functional in the campus.

The hostel buildings with spacious rooms, lounges, recreation room having tv sets in each of the hostels. The girl’s hostel, with a view to ensure absolute safety of the inmates, fenced properly & secured. The student representatives run the mess in the men’s’ and women’s’ hostel under the supervision and guidance of the warden.

Museum

CIMS has an Anatomy Department Museum which made as per the norms of the Medical Council of India (MCI). The whole of it is divided into various subsections namely Gross specimens which made region wise for the study of the gross parts, Neuroanatomy, Radiology section (CT, MRI and the X-rays for the study of the radiology), Histology, Embryology models, charts and specimens for the study of embryology, and Anthropology.

Auditorium

World Class Air-Conditioned Auditorium with a Seating Capacity of 1500. The Hall Mark of This Structure is Its Interior Design and BOSE Sound System. The CIMS Bilaspur has a large new Auditorium Hall with facilities of LED/LCD projector which used for annual function, cultural activities, conference, workshop, examination & recreation purpose.

Brief
1. The Hospital is 550 bedded and run by unit systems. It is a dietary Hospital.
2. Clinical side rooms (CSR) are available in the ward.
3. Teaching areas are available in each ward.
4. Hospital Kitchen is run by an approved contractor under the supervision of an authorized and posted dietician of CIMS, Therapeutic kitchen facility exists.
5. All basic and advanced investigations are done in the hospital. It has a central laboratory with three components (Biochemistry, Pathology & Microbiology). Samples are collected at sample collection centre centrally.
