Initially, the hospital offered outpatient services with one part-time honorary medical officer, deputed from Chittagong Medical College, and three honorary pediatric consultants.

Over time, the organization gradually received control of the entire two-story building (each floor offering 91,000 square feet of space). Shishu Hospital completed its construction in 1988, and in 1994, it added maternity services, expanding its capacity to 150 beds. It then renamed itself “Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital.
