Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam, established in 1923 is the oldest medical college in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The College is affiliated to the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada and recognized by the Medical Council of India.

Andhra Medical College (AMC) is the oldest medical college in Andhra Pradesh and one of the oldest medical colleges in India. It came into being on 19th July 1923 and rapidly acquired national attention as a centre of higher learning in medical education.

Facilities / Infrastructure in Andhra Medical College

• AMU have teaching beds of more than 1000 and the college is running since 1923
• This medical college is a unitary campus of more than 25 acres
• An air-conditioned Central Library, with 24 Hours reading room outside the central library for 200 students.
• Staff room , librarian room, journal room, airconditioned computer room with Medlar and internet facility is available.
• Six lecture hall of which five are having 250 capacity and one with 500 capacity. All lecture halls provided with Audio visual aids.
• The college also have an auditorium.
• An Animal house Under the Department of Pharmacology.
• Play grounds and a gymnasium for the staff and students. The college has won many championship shields in different competition held state-wide and national wide.
• There is continuous electrical supply and electricians are available round the clock.
• There are separate toilets and bathrooms for men and women. There is provision of safe drinking water round the clock.
• There are six laboratories which are used by Physiology biochemistry pathology, histology, histopathology, clinical pharmacology, Hematology, Microbiology and community medicine
• There is a fully equipped central research lab.
• Each department taking classes in common lecture theatres. Each department having three demonstration rooms, Research laboratories Departmental Library and accommodation for all staff members.
• Apart from these Anatomy, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, departments have museums
• All clinical departments have demonstration rooms in wards and OPDs
• The teaching Hospital has more than 1000 beds with near 100% indoor bed occupancy
• A central lecture theatre of gallery type with a seating capacity of 250 with audio visual aids in the hospital
• There is provision of resident accommodation for interns, senior, junior residents and faculty.
• There are well equipped Intensive Care Units(ICU), Intensive Coronary Care Units(ICCU), Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU),SICU, IRCU and Burns Unit.

Eligibility for Andhra Medical College

• Candidates must have 10+2 in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology from any recognized board.
• Candidate must qualify NEET.

Admission Process for Andhra Medical College

Documents to be submitted at admission to Administrative Office

The student has to submit the following original certificates along with  3 sets of xerox copies  at the time of joining in the course and the same are kept with this College.

• Original Allotment Order
• NEET Rank card
• NEET Hall ticket
• SSC or equivalent examination containing the Date of Birth
• Marks memo of qualifying examination i.e., Intermediate or Equivalent examination
• Transfer Certificate (TC)
• Receipt of Certificates issued by the University
• Study certificates (from class 6th Class to Intermediate)
• Permanent Caste certificate (integrated Community Certificate) Claiming reservation under BC/SC/ST Categories issued by an Officer prescribed, if applicable
• Pass port size photos with name 2 No.s
• Aadhar card Xerox
• Equivalency Certificate from A.P. Intermediate Board (Students from out of Andhra Pradesh)
• BOND – Hundred rupees Non-Judicial Stamp ( Rs 100/- ) taken on the name of the student and the matter to be typed and signed before submission. ( check attachments of Bond to be typed)
• Minority certificates issued by the concerned Department if applicable.
• Physically Handicapped Certificate issued by the concerned Authorities if applicable.
