Hostel and Other Facilities:

AIIMS is a residential college where the faculty members, staff and students live on either the main campus or one of the several campuses which form a part of the institution. There are five hostels for male undergraduate students and a single hostel for female undergraduate students. These six hostels together can accommodate around 850 students.  Additional hostels for Nursing students and post-graduate students are also available at a separate facility near the main AIIMS campus.

AIIMS has various other facilities that include a large library, computer labs, an organ retrieval banking organization, an electron microscope facility, etc. for the promotion of research. It also has a student’s gymkhana, cafes and a swimming pool.

Campus Life:

Approximately 80% of the students are male. The hostel life centers around the Quadrangle in the gents’ hostel, where most students can be seen relaxing or studying.

The college has a cosmopolitan student body owing to its countrywide reputation. Exchange students from several Indian and international medical schools also add to the cosmopolitan environment. Students are represented by the AIIMS Students’ Union, which is headed by an executive committee that is elected every year from students of the 6th semester.

The students involve themselves in extra-academic movements, including Pulse, the annual inter-college festival hosted by AIIMS. It is surely India’s largest medical fest, with daily attendance ranging from 5000 to 15000. A well-equipped gym, swimming pool and courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball, squash and soccer provide ample recreational opportunities as well.

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS admission in All India Institute of Medical Sciences:

AIIMS Delhi is one of the most prestigious medical colleges in India. To be eligible for admission in AIIMS Delhi, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Nationality: Indian citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), and Foreign Nationals are eligible to apply.

Age: The minimum age limit for AIIMS Delhi MBBS admission is 17 years as on December 31, 2023. There is no upper age limit.

Academic Qualification: Candidates should have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology, and English as the main subjects. Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination for general category candidates, and 50% marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates.

Climate:

The climate of New Delhi is a hot semi-arid climate bordering on a dry-winter humid subtropical climate with high variation between summer and winter in terms of both temperature and rainfall. The temperature varies from 46 °C (115 °F) in summers to around 0 °C (32 °F) in winters. The area’s version of a humid subtropical climate is noticeably different from many other cities with this climate classification in that it features long and very hot summers with dust storms, relatively dry and mild winters with wildfire haze, and a monsoonal period. Summers are long, extending from early April to October, with the monsoon season occurring in the middle of the summer.
